Kenneth Ray Norris

November 16, 1945 — August 1, 2023

Provo

Kenneth “Kenny” Ray Norris, 77, passed away in his home on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, after being surrounded by his loving family. He went to sleep after a wonderful day and did not wake up again. He was born on November 16, 1945, in the Rexburg Maternity Home, to Nephi Wells Norris and Uella Faye Loosli. He married Katherine Treva Blackburn on April 12, 1968 in the Idaho Falls temple. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2017.

Kenny’s middle name should have been industrious, “always involved in constant activity”. He was ALWAYS doing something. From the time he was young, he was always building things, tinkering around. When he was younger, he and his siblings had to cross a ditch to get to the bus. The ditch had a single board plank across it that was sagging. He rebuilt it in a way that two people could cross it at the same time! And so it began…

Kenny loved cutting down trees, and acting. He was an extra in many shows/movies, and was cast in many plays at the Valley Center Playhouse in Lindon. He served a mission for the LDS Church in England, and spoke fondly of the experience. He had many jobs over the years, but the ones that stand out were being an ambulance driver in Rexburg, a custodian for the church for many years, and a ‘lunch lady’ in his later years, which he quite enjoyed. He served as Executive Secretary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, more years than we can even count or remember, under many different bishops.

He loved riding his bike, then later, a motorized trike all over town. He was also an excellent example of serving others, and did so for as long as his body was physically able. He loved classical music! He would check out CD’s from the library, and had a large system with speakers all over the house that he would turn up and blast classical music, which would sometimes move him to tears. We will miss finding him sorting through his CD’s, his family history paperwork, or books upon books.. upon books... He sure loved his books!

Kenneth is survived by his 6 children and various spouses, 16 grandchildren and some spouses, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents, a brother, and his wife, which were waiting for him with open arms.
