Kenneth Boyd Martinez passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, peacefully in his home with his family and puppies.
Ken was born on August 17, 1950, to Thora and Dale Martinez. The Oldest of 4, he grew up in Orem. After graduating from Orem high he enlisted in the army and proudly served from 1969 to 1971.
After his service duty, he met and married the love of his life, Elaine Bigelow Martinez, on June 9th, 1972. Elaine brought 2 girls into the marriage, and Ken and Elaine had 2 boys together. All 6 of them enjoyed spending time together Hunting, fishing, camping, shooting, scouts, welding, and mechanics in their younger years.
Work was a four-letter word that Ken was not afraid of. He worked for the same company for over 40 years, and though he didn’t love every minute of it, he always tried to make it a better place. He also helped Kirk’s fruit while they were operating, which he also really enjoyed doing. He tried to pass on all the knowledge he had to the best of his ability; he talked of writing a book called "Some things to do and all the things not to do", but he spent his time loving on his puppies instead.
He would say I’m proud of many things I’ve done in my life and sorry for the bad ones. But he always told us he lived a good life.
Once he retired, the focus shifted to enjoying what time he had with Elaine. She had many health issues that they both tackled together. They both loved an area in Indianola they called the ranch that was passed down from Ken’s parents. Ken would say it’s a great place to get lost for a weekend and relax. And that’s exactly what they did.
Ken's quick humor, sarcastic adult sayings, and on-the-spot witty comebacks will all be greatly missed. We love you, Dad!
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Elaine, son Travis, and parents Dale and Thora. He is survived by his son Jason (Joni), step-daughters Stephanie (Julian), Jalayne (Mike), his sisters Julie, Lori (Rod), and Pat. And a bunch of grand and great-grandchildren whom he missed every day!
Ken didn’t want flowers sent for him; he asked that we let you know to send the flowers to someone you love in his honor. He also asked for you to hug a loved one instead of coming to a party for a dead guy. That was Ken’s magical logic and who he was.
Condolences for the family may be expressed on this page.
