Beloved June Larsen Mower Richardson passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the age of 95. We are certain she is enjoying a glorious reunion with her family and loved ones on the other side of the veil.
June was the daughter of Milton Keele Larsen and Etta Avera Holgate, born June 1st, 1930, in Arcadia, Utah, in the home of her maternal grandparents, John and Aroetta Holgate. She was the second child of four siblings.
She grew up in the rural farm community of Arcadia, Utah, where she enjoyed the life of a country girl, riding horses and doing routine chores like feeding animals, gathering eggs, and milking cows. She also learned to play the piano and accordion and played with a family orchestra for dances and other celebrations.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Roosevelt, Utah, where she enjoyed cheerleading, pitching on the women's softball team, and won a state typing competition when she typed 120 wpm on a manual typewriter!
She met the love of her life, Myron Richards Mower, during her high school years, and they later married on October 2, 1949, in the home of a family friend, Willard Day, in Salt Lake City. She and Myron were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 1, 1961, together with her three sons, David, Douglas, and Gregory.
Following Myron’s death in 1968, she met Shirl B. Richardson, and they later married on September 22, 1972. They enjoyed a happy life together until Shirl’s passing in May 2005.
June was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she enjoyed teaching and leading music in the Primary organization. She also served as the chorister in her ward for over 30 years. She had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a faithful disciple of Him.
June had an extraordinary talent for music. Playing by ear, she never learned to read music, but she could hear any song and transpose it on the piano, organ, or accordion. She enjoyed sharing her talent at ward parties, community events,s and even the Memory Care Facility where she lived the last two years. She was always a hit on our family camping trips, where she would play the accordion around the campfire and treat us all with a large batch of pumpkin cookies!
Throughout her life, June enjoyed the company of friends, going to dances, plays, and dinners. She also enjoyed boating and water skiing, camping, fishing, bowling, clogging, and table games, especially Scrabble and RACK-O. She was an excellent homemaker and loved cooking, baking, and canning fruits and jams.
June was a wonderful mother and worked tirelessly to support herself and her three boys after Myron’s death. She worked as a receptionist for Signetics Corp, The Naturalist, and Mini World. Her latest employment was with the BYU Wilkinson Center, where, for over ten years, she truly enjoyed decorating for various holidays and special occasions, and especially Christmas.
June is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Myron, husband, Shirl, sister and brother-in-law, Erna and Ray Scholes, and brother and sister-in-law, Gale and Darleen Larsen. She is survived by her three sons, David (Joanne) Mower, Douglas (Nann) Mower, and Gregory (Mina) Mower; her sister, Pauline (Milton - Deceased) Poulson; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
We wish to thank the staff at The Peaks of South Jordan, Serenity Hospice, and the members of the South Jordan Country Park 10th Branch for the loving care they provided for June over the past 2 years.
