Joyce Adams

Joyce Bateman Adams, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, after one year of hospice care.

Joyce was born on December 31, 1934, in Logan, Utah, to LeRoy Bateman and Mary Alice Hall.

She married Lon Que Adams on November 18, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they raised four children: Lona Newell of Casper, Wyoming; Thomas Lee Adams (Debra Van Uitert) of San Angelo, Texas; Alisa Allen of San Angelo, Texas; and John Que Adams (Kimberly Miller) of Payson, Utah. Joyce and Que were blessed with 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great­great-grandchildren.

At the age of eight, Joyce contracted polio. Through her mother's loving care and her own determination, she went on to live a full and busy life. She spent her summers thinning sugar beets, picking potatoes, milking cows, and helping with all kinds of farm chores.

Joyce had a deep love for gardening and flowers. Her gardens were always beautiful and well-organized. She was often teased for pulling out plants that weren't blooming to her standards. As she did, her children would jokingly say, "Off with their heads."

Joyce is survived by her beloved husband, Lon Que Adams, and her sister, Margaret Samuelson of Logan, Utah.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to A Plus Hospice Care, especially Michelle, Izze, and Ivan, for their loving and dedicated care of Joyce.

An evening viewing will be held on Friday, February 20, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. also at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, with a viewing held that morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
