Jon E. Cameron

Jon E. Cameron, age 75, of Orem, Utah, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026. He was born on December 19, 1950, in Provo, Utah, to Morris Carl Cameron and Angela Ruth (Carter) Cameron.

Jon married Angelia Kay Dorsey on September 1, 1977, in the Provo LDS Temple. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, service, humor, music, and love.

Jon served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Needles, Nevada and Needles, California area, serving communities throughout the tri-state border region. He later earned two associate degrees from Brigham Young University, one in Business and one in Heating and Air Conditioning.

Throughout his life, Jon faithfully served in his church and community, including several times as First Counselor in the Pioneer 2nd Ward. He shared his love of music as a tenor in the ward choirs of the Pioneer 2nd and Sharon 3rd Ward, and especially loved participating in the Christmas program. In later years, he continued studying music theory. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, spending time in the mountains, and finding treasures at the LT Store after his family banned him from yard sales.

Jon had a special gift for making children in the family feel included, entertained, and loved. In a tribute written by his mother for Jon and Angelia’s wedding day, she described him as “the Pied Piper, followed by the neighborhood children.” That gift remained true throughout his life. He was beloved by the cousins, nieces, and nephews who followed him into adventures, stories, projects, and more than a few questionable shortcuts.

His family will remember his humor, his stories, and the contradictions that made him so endearing. He loved the mountains, even if an outing with Dad sometimes meant getting a little lost along the way. He loved fishing, whether the fish were plentiful or everyone came home “skunked.” He was famous for needing “just one more minute” before leaving, because there was always one last thing to do. Though he may have claimed not to care much for birds, dogs, or cats, his family knew better. He told stories of his dogs Rebel and Blue, doted on the family cats, tended his pigeons — once keeping a large flock — and in later years, while the family was away, fell in love with Xena, the corgi he had insisted he did not want.

Jon was fun to talk to, easy to laugh with, and always ready with a story, a bit of advice, or a reminder to eat your blueberries because they were good for your brain. He may not have been perfect, but he was deeply loved. Family celebrations, BBQs, holidays, Christmas programs, and mountain drives will not be the same without him.

Jon is survived by his wife, Angelia Cameron; his children, Jonathan Cameron, Annie Cameron, Daniel Cameron, Kelsey Cameron, and Evan Cameron; his grandchildren, Koliniasi Vanisi and his wife, Kotone Vanisi, Angela Vanisi, Sione Vanisi, Roxie Vanisi, Kaede Cameron, and Arisa Cameron; and many beloved extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Carl Cameron and Angela Ruth (Carter) Cameron; and his brother, Morris “Mo” Cameron.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 430 South 700 East, Orem, Utah. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
