JoAnn P. Roberts was born in Seattle, Washington, to Howd and Mitzi Parry. The family moved from Seattle to the Salt Lake Valley when she was eight years old. She is the oldest of four children and is survived by her three siblings.
Education was important to JoAnn. She was a proud University of Utah graduate and went to graduate school at Washington State University.
Her first career job was at Brigham Young University, where she taught Physical Education.
After six years teaching at BYU, JoAnn received a call to serve as a full-time representative of Jesus Christ in the Paris, France, mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served honorably for two years.
Upon her return from France, JoAnn came back to work at BYU, this time in the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. In addition to her job at BYU, she was called to serve for several years on writing committees for The Church and to serve on the General Board of the Young Women’s Mutual Improvement Association.
In 1979, after a season of courtship, JoAnn was married and sealed to her best friend and perfect opposite, Stanley Roberts Jr, in the Provo, Utah Temple.
JoAnn and Stan then accepted the challenge of adopting and raising Teresa, Brent, and Nathan. The family was sealed together in the same Provo, Utah Temple.
JoAnn was always anxiously engaged in a good cause. She did so with anonymity and humility. She moved graciously through her eighty-seven years of life and influenced countless people.
Her eternal companion, Stan, and her two surviving children, Nathan and Brent, were with her when she peacefully passed from this life into her next exciting adventure in the Heavens.
