Jeffrey Carl Meyers, age 51, passed away on September 13th, 2024, after a short battle with stomach cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to all who had the honor of knowing him. Jeff is survived by his wife, Kim, and children (and spouses): Brianna (Michael), Braden, Jenna (Nick), and Kate.
Jeff was born on March 24th, 1973, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the third of seven children of Kent and Marilyn Meyers. Jeff is preceded in death by his brother, Carl, and survived by both his parents and his siblings (and spouses): Ken (Sara), Bob (Michelle), Steve (Rachel), Kim (Pavel), and Adrienne (John). Jeff’s fun-loving nature was evident from his childhood. He loved playing with his siblings and with friends in the neighborhood. He enjoyed sports, including baseball and basketball, and was known as a teenager for his friendly, inclusive approach to people around him.
After graduating from Bloomfield (CT) High School, Jeff attended school at Utah State University and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in business/finance. He served a church mission in Seattle, Washington, and returned to Provo, Utah, where he met and married Kim Reeves as a part-time teller at Utah Community Credit Union. His marriage to Kim was his highest priority throughout the rest of his life. Everyone who knew Jeff knew how much he loved his wife. He spoke often of the buoying force Kim’s ability to be a listening ear was for him: someone to whom he could share his thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Their deep bond was characterized by unwavering love, mutual support, and a commitment to caring for one another throughout their lives.
Jeff continued his education at the University of Phoenix, where he received an MBA. He worked at UCCU for 29 years, where his integrity, dedication, and commitment to the credit union’s members set him apart as an exemplary leader and employee. He also attended CUNA Management School, where he became the first student to graduate with highest honors on every test and both projects. He finished his tenure at UCCU as Chief Lending Officer, helping countless members as well as mentoring and befriending many employees.
Jeff served faithfully in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His love for all allowed him to form genuine connections with people in his many callings, including as a nursery leader, young men leader, and bishop. Youth and ward activities were always more fun with Jeff around. Aside from his callings, he also touched the lives of countless individuals through his faith, service, and Christlike care for the people around him – often finding a need others hadn’t noticed, and always without a desire for recognition.
Jeff loved his family. His fun-loving spirit made family campouts, reunions, and gatherings a memorable and adventure-filled experience. The annual Daddy Campout in a basement blanket fort is one of the many ways he creatively crafted memories and traditions for his kids, wife, and many others. Although work and church commitments kept Jeff very busy, he was never too busy for his family. Fall, spring, and summer breaks were always spent outdoors. He loved to drag his family and friends to join him in whatever new hobby he had picked up: backpacking, downhill and cross-country skiing, boating, biking, canyoneering, hiking, four-wheeling, and shooting.
Jeff’s unwavering faith in the reality of the Resurrection, eternal families, and the plan of salvation because of Jesus Christ gave him immeasurable peace as he faced the end of his life. In his final months, Jeff often talked about being ready to “graduate” to the next life, and that he knew that we would only be separated for a short time. We are grateful for the medical caregivers and professionals that dedicated their time and efforts to serving Jeff over the past two months. We also would like to thank our many friends and family for the outpouring of love and support that we have received during this difficult time.
