Jack Leonard Burr, age 83, from Orem, Utah, passed away on November 29, 2017, at the Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Utah. Jack was born before dirt on April 10, 1934, in Provo, Utah, to Mont and Emma Terry Burr. Jack was the oldest child of four born to Mont and Emma. He met the love of his life while attending Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah. In 1953, Jack joined the Army during the Korean War. After basic training, he proposed to his love, Carol Ann Chapman. They were sealed for time and all eternity (Forever, ever, ever and EVER…) on March 29, 1954, in the Manti Temple. Jack was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a stake missionary and in the high counsel, and as branch president of the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Jack and Carol served together at the Church Welfare Cannery,.
Jack enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his wife and family. He enjoyed doing everything Carol said he should. Jack and Carol enjoyed many traveling adventures. He loved camping, hunting, golfing, fishing, and taking drives up the canyon.
He graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering. After graduation, the family moved to San Jose, California, where he was employed with IBM. After 12 years in California, Jack and Carol, with kids in tow, moved back to Utah to be closer to family. Jack is survived by Carol Ann his wife 63 years and his seven children: Diane Kunkel of Bountiful, Utay; Terry (Diane) Burr of Star Valley, Wyoming; Connie (Bruce) Nielsen of Owasso, Oklahoma; Blake (Lori) Burr of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lynette (Paul) Poppenberg of Tempe, Arizona; Kent (Rana) Burr of Fairfield, California; Brent (Seval) Burr of Cedar City, Utah; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren (with 3 more on the way); his sister Janice (Norman) Parcell; and his brother Kay (Jan) Burr. Jack is proceeded in death by his parents Mont and Emma Burr and brother Ronald Evan Burr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the Hillcrest Stake Center, 800 East 1450 South, Orem, Utah, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing for family and friends will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the stake center just prior to the funeral services. The burial will be held at the Orem City Cemetery with Military Rites presented by the American Legion.
