Hazel Hanson

Hazel Louise Debbold Hanson was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Met and married Irving E. Debbold in 1949 and moved to Southern California in 1950. They had one child, Lester Debbold. They owned and both worked in their marine hardware and equipment manufacturing business in Lynwood, CA. for 23 years. They retired and moved to Boulder City, Nevada in 1973. Hazel was very active in the community serving as President of the Community Club of Boulder City, the Republican Women's Club of Las Vegas, served on the Boulder City Planning Commission and later was elected to a 4 year term on the city council. Hazel loved to dance and at age 61 joined a tap dancing group called the Nevada State Troupers of Las Vegas, had her own group for 3 years in Boulder City and also danced with the Golden Tappers of Las Vegas. Her husband was very supportive and was kind of the official photographer for all of their dancing performances. Irving died in February 1989. In 1995 Hazel moved to Orem, Utah to be near her brother and sister. In 1996 Hazel joined the LDS Church. Served as Primary Teacher, Assistant Ward Librarian, Ward Librarian for several years and Relief Society Visiting Teaching Supervisor being active in the church. Volunteered at the Missionary Training Center in Provo and later served a part time mission as a shift leader there for two and a half years for the church. Also, volunteered at the Orem Senior Friendship Center under Rachel McOmber as an English as a Second Language teacher for 6 years. In 2005 Hazel married George (Bill) W. Hanson in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. The two of them served two part time missions at the Missionary Training Center in Provo. They traveled in their spare time and loved to ballroom dance. Bill died in January 2014. Hazel was known as a sweet lady, a good mother and wife, always bright and cheerful to her family and friends. She is predeceased by her first husband, Irving E. Debbold; her sister, Bessie A. Nollsch and her late husband, George (Bill) W. Hanson. Survivors include her twin brother, Herbert J. Hill; son, Lester Debbold and two grandsons Eric and Brett; step daughter Marlene Phillips and step daughter, Billie Borgerding. Funeral services will held Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Cascade Stake Center, 481 East Center, in Orem. A viewing will be held Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the service at the stake center. Burial will be in Boulder, Nevada at a later date.
