Harold Walter “Skeets” Neubert, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born to Henry Alfred Neubert and Marie Selma (Stecher) Neubert on September 22, 1935, in Jefferson, New Jersey. Skeets grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and quiet determination. He worked alongside his father on the family farm until 1960, learning early the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance—qualities that would define his life.

A diligent student, he graduated from high school with honors and continued his education by attending night classes at Rutgers University, studying accounting while balancing work and family responsibilities. In those early years, he took on whatever work was needed, including driving a snow truck for the New Jersey State Highway Department during the winters and serving his community as a substitute mail carrier with the United States Postal Service.

On November 24, 1956, he married the love of his life, Fern Sue Barger, at the Methodist Church in Mantua, New Jersey. Together, they built a life centered on faith, devotion, and family. In 1963, they built their first home with their own hands, beginning a lifelong pattern of creating spaces filled with love and care. Each home that followed was shaped by his steady effort and his desire to make his wife’s dreams a reality.

In 1961, Skeets began a long and dedicated career with Pacific Valves of New Jersey. The company moved him and his family in 1974 to California, where he served as an office sales manager until 1989. He later continued his work with Electrocube, Inc. from 1990 until his retirement in 1996. His work ethic, integrity, and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

In March 1963, Skeets and Fern joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a decision that deeply shaped the rest of their life. On August 19, 1965, he and his beloved wife were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple, a sacred milestone that reflected his enduring commitment to faith and family.

He served faithfully in many church callings over the years, including Counselor in the Branch Presidency in Pitman, New Jersey, and as a Stake and Ward Clerk in both California and Utah for more than two decades. He also served as Sunday School President, High Priest Group Leader, Ward Mission Leader, and Scout Committee Chairman. Later in life, he and his wife served two missions together: in Cleveland, Ohio (1997–1998) and in Montreal, Canada (1999–2001), where he worked as a financial secretary. Skeets continued his efforts as a service missionary at the Lindon Cannery (2005). His quiet, steady service touched countless lives.

After retirement, Skeets and Fern made their home in Utah, where he continued to devote himself to family, faith, and the simple joys he loved. He found happiness in serving others (building, repairs, and helping wherever he was needed), reading, woodworking, gardening, and genealogy—patient pursuits that reflected his thoughtful and careful nature.

Above all, Skeets was a devoted family man. He and Fern raised six children—Kevin, Scott, Pamela, Todd, Denise, and Keith—instilling in them the same values of faith, hard work, and love that guided his own life. His legacy lives on in them, and in twenty-one grandchildren, and forty-six (and another to come) great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his tight hugs, quiet strength, his unwavering faith, his tireless devotion to his family, and the gentle way he showed love through action rather than words.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Those left to celebrate the life of Skeets include: His wife, Fern of Orem, Utah; Kevin (Debby) Neubert of Savannah, Georgia; Scott (Debbie) Neubert of Queen Creek, Arizona; Pam (Mark) Wilson of Spanish Fork, Utah; Todd (Janeen) Neubert of Salt Lake, Utah; Denise (Curtis) O’Reilly of Highland, Utah; Keith (Carly) Neubert of Reno, Nevada; twenty-one grandchildren who knew him as PopPop; and forty-six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (365 South 900 East, Orem, Utah). A viewing for friends and family will be held that morning at the church from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
