Glenn Russell Nuckles age 60, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Timpanogos Hospital in Orem, Utah while living in the Beehive House in Pleasant Grove, UT. Glenn was a beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and uncle who brought much humor and joy into the lives of those who knew and loved him. Glenn also taught those around him many life lessons through his dedication and unwavering commitment to the Savior by his continuous efforts to study the scriptures and his faithful dedication to the gospel principles, which he so deeply loved.
Glenn was born in Glendale, CA on January 16, 1958 to Kenneth Russell and Zola Rowena Bailey Nuckles. Glenn lived for a short time in Highland Park, CA but his father’s work soon took the family to Lancaster, CA where Glenn spent his early years. After his father’s passing in 1972 the family moved to Orem, UT where Glenn spent the remainder of his life, surrounded by family.
Glenn graduated from Orem High School and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints to the Missouri St. Louis Mission. He attended Snow College and graduated with a two-year degree. Glenn became an accomplished woodworker and built many items including a beautiful roll top desk, large storage cabinet, wood planters, and many other items, which were available for sale. He loved attending institute classes and broadening his knowledge of the Savior and His eternal plan.
Due to lifelong health challenges Glenn was never able to drive or do many of the things that most young men his age were able to do. Despite his issues Glenn never complained. Although never able to marry, he found great joy in his many nieces and nephews who loved to have him entertain them or play “five thousand” and dominos with them. Glenn could play games for hours and more often than not he seemed to come out a winner.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Zola Nuckles. He is survived by his sister Doreen Ericksen (David Ericksen: deceased) South Ogden, UT, and brothers Dennis (Silvia) American Fork, UT, David (Lynn) Dallas, GA, Les (Jan) Custer, SD and Dale (Debbie) St. George, UT. and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members.
The family would like to express our deep and sincere thanks to the workers at the former Beehive House in Pleasant Grove (now called Bright Work Living) who gave Glenn such wonderful and tender care over the past six years. Their loving concern has truly been an inspiration to us all.
