George Harrison

George Washington Harrison, 91, of Orem, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was born July 6, 1930, in Luling, Texas, to Cecil Irvin Harrison and Lona Elizabeth Ashford. He married Patricia Edwards Snow on February 14, 1955, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

George moved to Arkansas at about age 1, then moved to northern Arizona when he was about 6 years old. He grew up in lumber camps. He was baptized at age 13 (Family were converts to the LDS Church). He graduated from Snowflake Union High School (National Honor Society). He played baseball, football, and competed in track and field. He earned letters for sporting achievements. He graduated from BYU with his bachelor's and master's degrees. He taught school at Pleasant Grove Junior and Orem Junior for 26 years. He served an LDS Mission to the Southern States from 1950-1952 and in the Tonga Liahona High School from 1996-1998. He served three times as a Stake High Counselor, once as Stake Young Men's President and as Bishop's Counselor, Bishop, Ward Young Men's President, Deacon Advisor, and Priest Advisor. He worked in the Scouting program as a Cub Master, Scout Master, Varsity Coach, District Committee member, and as a Camp Staff member for 7 summers. George served 3 years in the active duty U.S. Air Force and 19 years in the Air Force Reserve (National Guard). He enjoyed the outdoors, backpacking, leather work, and photography. He was an excellent father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

George is survived by his wife Patricia and his children: Cecil Don Harrison, Laura Ann Dotson, Norman Ellis Harrison, Tacy Lona Harrison, Roy Lynn Harrison, Nylene Dee Sellers, Bryan George Harrison, 26 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Charles Lee Harrison.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11 :00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 365 South 900 East, Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Saturday morning, from 9:30 to 10:30 am, just prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with military rites. The funeral conducted by the Sundberg-Olpin & Wheeler Funeral Home.
