Listen to Obituary

Garett Lee Babcock, age 65, of Provo, Utah, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, from his battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born August 3, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, to George and Diane Babcock. He married Lois Hardy Babcock on August 4, 1984, in the Provo LDS Temple.

Garett grew up in California, lifeguarding, driving his Firebird, and spending time with his family camping, hiking, and going to the beach. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 9 years old. He served a mission for the church in Hawaii, where he developed a love for the Polynesian culture, people, and music. Garett met and fell in love with his wife Lois while lifeguarding at the pool in Utah. Garett earned a Bachelor of Science degree from BYU, an associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from the California College for Health Services, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from BYU Idaho. He has served in many church callings, from Bishop to nursery. Garett worked as a respiratory therapist and Registered Nurse for Utah Valley Regional Hospital, Primary Children's Hospital, Neonatal Life Flight, and Timpanogos Regional Hospital. He loved his jeeps, going to movies with his grandkids, boating, taking his family to the beach, and had a desire for lifelong learning. He followed the Savior's example with the love and kindness he showed to others, whether it was at work with patients and colleagues, or at home with ward members, friends, and family.

Garett is survived by his wife, Lois, and his three daughters: Shannon; Stephanie (Kyle); Kelly (Derrick); and his 11 grandchildren: Madison (Devin), Brayden (Annie), Megan, Melissa, Kaitlyn, Zac, Bryce, Allison, Amy, Matt, and Abbie; and 4 great-grandchildren: Louisa, Wesley, Payton, and Macie. Garett was preceded in death by his father, George, and his son, Gary.
