Francis Elaine Fullmer Stokes Boren, age 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on August 27, 2025. Born on July 27, 1931, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, she was the eldest of two children born to George Myron Fullmer and Patsy Bessie James. Fran attended Bingam Central Elementary and Bingham High School, where she was a student council member, contributor to the student newspaper and was a proud Miss Copperton. She continued her education at Utah State University, studying home economics with a focus on sewing. Fran embraced campus life and was honored as an Sigma Chi Omega sorority sister, Sigma Pi Sweetheart, and an ROTC sponsor.
While at Utah State, Fran met George Lavon Stokes. They married on January 29, 1952, in Logan, Utah, and together raised four children. A devoted wife and mother, Fran found deep joy in homemaking and dedicated her life to creating a loving home. She had a passion for sewing, oil painting, designing costumes for local roadshows, and spending time boating with her family on the Columbia River.
After her children were grown, Fran worked for both the Vancouver and Alpine School Districts, where she loved supporting students, teachers, and administrators alike. She was also deeply involved in her husband’s military vehicle hobby and enjoyed participating in parades and events, making lifelong friends through military organizations.
A woman of faith and service, Fran held many callings in her church and was always willing to serve her community and family with kindness and dedication.
After 56 years of marriage, and following the passing of her husband George, Fran reconnected with her high school sweetheart, J.D. Boren. They were married for time on November 9, 2019, in Gilbert, Arizona. Together, they divided their time between Orem and Mesa, enjoying the company of friends and family. Fran loved crocheting, knitting, sewing, birdwatching, spotting deer and turkeys in the yard, and hunting for hidden treasures at thrift stores with J.D.
Fran is survived by her loving husband, J.D. Boren, and his family; her four children: Laurie Elizabeth Stokes, George Scott Stokes, Craig (Jeannetta) Stokes, and Paula (James) McDowell; 16 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, her brother Wayne Fullmer, and two grandchildren, Jesse Evan Bott and Sarah Stokes.
