Florence Pittard

September 17, 1925 — September 24, 2018

Florence Delsie Pittard of Orem, Utah died peacefully Monday evening, September 24, 2018 at the age of 93.  She was born in Toponce, Idaho to Florence Ruby Campbell and Parley Pratt Jensen.  She was the 11th of 12 hard-working farm children.   Delsie married Robert Thurlow Pittard December 25, 1943 in Payette, Idaho.  World War II soon separated them while Bob was serving in the Philippines in 1945 and Delsie gave birth to their first child in Ontario, Oregon.  They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 15, 1952.  Robert died unexpectedly on May 5, 2010 after “67 years of bliss.”

Delsie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She enjoyed serving in every leadership position in the church.  She and her husband served a mission in the Chicago Temple then worked for 6 additional years in the Provo and  Mount Timpanogos Temples.  Genealogy and temple work were an essential part of Delsie & Bob’s lives.   All who met and worked with her loved her.  She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed professionally for many years.  She lovingly stitched beautiful, intricate quilts for every child & the grandchildren for as long as she was able.  She loved to garden.  She picked and canned bushels of their produce and shared it with many others.  She was known for her variety of pies, cinnamon rolls, apple dumplings, bread and raspberry jam!

She believed life was a gift and wanted to live each minute to the fullest by offering her constant smile and positive attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to share her time to help those in need.  She has been, and will continue to be, a very busy angel.

Delsie is survived by her 5 children: Gary (Gail) Pittard of Orem, UT; Kathy (Ingo) Titze of Salt Lake City, UT; Bruce (Brenda) Pittard of Caldwell, ID; Debra (David) Richardson of Lancaster, CA; Brian (Laura) Pittard of Orem, UT; 22 grandchildren; and 47 ½ great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob, and all of her siblings and their spouses.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11 am in the Suncrest 6th Ward LDS Chapel located at 891 West 130 North, Orem, UT.  A viewing for friends and family will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at The Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State in Orem, and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church.  Burial will be at Camp Williams Cemetery, 17111 South 1700 West, Bluffdale, UT.
