Eileen Wilkinson

March 21, 1922 — May 29, 2014

Eileen Eleanor Berna Wilkinson passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 29, 2014 at her place of residence, Summerfield Manor in Orem, Utah. Eileen was born March 21, 1922 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Harvey Eargle Berna and Lena Pearl Moore Berna. The Berna family moved to the Rocky Mountains, Great Divide in Colorado, where Eileen spent her young years before moving to Orem, Utah. In Orem, she attended Lincoln High School. Eileen had a beautiful singing voice. She and her older brother, Odus, performed together. Eileen used to tell the story of when she was twelve, she and her brother were performing at a union meeting in Orem. At that same meeting, Chuck Wilkinson was performing with his sister, Pamela. Eileen said it was "love at first sight," and she knew, one day, she and Chuck would be married. They were married five years later, June 12, 1939 in Provo, Utah. They were, subsequently, sealed in the Manti LDS Temple, June 27, 1967. Eileen and Chuck had eight children, four boys and four girls. Eileen was a wonderful wife and mother. She was a talented seamstress, and when her older children were young, she made many of their clothes from self-designed patterns. She was also creative and talented at many other home crafts including crochet, and her home made bread with home made raspberry jam was one of the family's favorites from her kitchen! She worked at Safeway as a grocery checker for twenty-one years, where she was active in the union and served as secretary for a time. She and Chuck were married for seventy-one years before he passed away in 2010. She is survived by seven children; Charleen Bishop (Clyde), Charles McLean Wilkinson, Jr. (Ann), Joyce Gay Leukel (Peter), Berna Ryan Wilkinson (Sherry), Jonnie Reese Wilkinson (Diana), Edward Clark Wilkinson (Sheree), Laura May Wilson (Robert) and numerous grandchildren, great-grand children, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles McLean Wilkinson Sr. and a daughter, Rebecca Ann Housekeeper. The family wishes to express gratitude for the many kind employees and residents of Summerfield for their love and care for Eileen the past four years. Funeral services will be conducted at Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 South State St, Orem on Tuesday, June 3rd 2014 at 10:00 am. A viewing will be held 9:00 - 9:45 am. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Heber City Cemetery next to her sweetheart, Chuck.
