Dorothy Joan Purcell

Dorothy Joan Purcell passed away on February 19^th, 2024, in Provo, UT at the age of 93. Dorothy was born on August 7^th, 1930, to Emma Elizabeth Robertson and Orlin Mallory Williams in Clairton, Allegheny, Pennsylvania and she was the oldest of 4 children. She married Richard Daniel Paupard Sr., on September 26^th, 1949, in Yokohama Japan. They shared 41 wonderful years together and three children, Richard Daniel Paupard Jr, Diane Elaine Paupard and John Clifton Paupard.  Richard Daniel Paupard Sr., passed away on November 10^th, 1990, after a brave battle with cancer.  In 1991 she met and married the love of her life Melvin W. Purcell on June 22^nd, 1991. They spent many happy years traveling together until Melvins health would not allow for him to travel. He passed away on June 8^th, 2012. 

Dorothy was a member of the church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints where she held many callings. Dorothy immersed herself in her callings of service and her love for the lord. Dorothy was an avid quilter and spent a lot of her free time making and designing quilts for her family and the people she loved. She was amazing at it! Dorothy was the head volunteer in the Emergency room for many years at Utah Valley hospital. Dorothys love for her family was never ending. She will be missed by many!

Dorothy is survived by her three children Richard (Louise) Paupard, Diane (Ron) Lohse, John Paupard, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren.

She is proceeded on death by her parents Emma and Orlin, her husband’s Richard Paupard, Melvin Purcell, her siblings Bernice, Raymond, George, her daughter in-law Sharylyn Paupard, and her Grandson Donald Hutchings. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 26, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Suncrest 10^th Ward LDS Chapel located at 95 N 600 W., Orem, UT. A viewing for friends and family will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, prior to the funeral. The burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
