Donna Vee Holdaway Pipkin, 83, of Orem, Utah died of natural causes at 7:00 am, Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the Covington Senior living in Orem, Utah where she resided for the last seven months. Our sweet and loving mother was born in Lehi, Utah, January 4, 1937. She was the first born child to the parents of Alvis Lavar Holdaway and Vira Mae Bennett. Donna was raised in Vineyard, Utah where she grew up on a farm that she loved, along with her two younger sisters Valene Stewart and Bonnie Bridges. Donna graduated from Lincoln High School where she was involved in baseball and basketball.
After graduating from Lincoln High School, mom attended Brigham Young University where she met her eternal companion James Whitney Pipkin from Farmington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2012. While attending BYU mom worked for an Insurance company.
Donna is survived by four daughters Kaye ReNell Milligan (Patrick L Milligan), Lynae Flygare (Reed Flygare) Jill Nielsen (Ron Nielsen), Cindy Lopez (Art Lopez), who are married and gave her fourteen wonderful grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Donna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many positions that included Relief Society President, Young Women's President and Primary President. When my father retired from his self-made brick business, mom and dad served an eighteen month mission in Nauvoo, Illinois.
Mom loved her mission very much! She was very proud and loved telling stories of her Pioneer Heritage. Mom loved spending time with her family, sewing (especially when she made a quilt for a grandchild), gardening (tomatoes were her favorite), camping, going for rides, reading, crocheting and her favorite TV show was “Pioneer Woman”. Each month mom looked forward to her lunch bunch group of lifelong friends.
In honor of mom and her life, a funeral service will be held at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah on Monday Sept. 14, 2020. The viewing will be 10:00-11:00am. Funeral services will be held from 11:30-12:30. She will be buried in the Orem Cemetery next to her eternal companion Jim.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Covington Senior living staff and Encompass Hospice care towards the end of her life on earth.
Condolence may be expressed to the family on this page.
