Donald Hansen

June 19, 1923 — June 30, 2014

As surely as life begins... It must end. It is what takes place between these two facts that really matters.

Donald Gene Hansen passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at his home in Provo, Utah surrounded by his loving family and his beloved companion Maxine of 51 years. Born June 19, 1923 in Souix City, Iowa to Lawrence Peter Hansen and Mary Helen Barron. He graduated from Central High School in 1941. He worked for Wind Charger making motors for airplanes for the war till 1945 then worked for Armour and Co. where he learned to buy and judge cattle. He worked his way up and became head buyer for the Indianapolis Cattle Co. As he vacationed in Utah, he fell in love with the mountains. He then moved to Utah making Provo his permanent home. He started Hansen Wholesale Electric in 1961 on a shoestring (in his own words) and built it into a successful business of 25 years. He married Maxine Mullett Hoover in 1962 and together they raised her 4 children as well as a daughter of their own. Don became a member of the LDS church and served actively in many callings. Don was known for his good business sense and his generosity to others. He provided opportunities for many to serve missions, attend school, and reach their full potential.

He lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, but most of all camping and boating with family and friends in Southern Utah and Lake Powell. He is survived by his wife Maxine, sister Dorothy Kleinhans, children Pam (Jeff) Robert, Teri Robert, Kim (Jean) Hoover, Shannon (Jerry) Anderson, Mary (Rick) Mallory, as well as 31 grandchildren, 59 great grand children, and 1 great great grand child. They all loved their Grandpa Don. He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mary Helen Hansen, sisters Gladys Zetterman, Hazel Allensworth, Marian Robert and two grandchildren Cami and Brandon Widdop.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 5 at the red brick chapel, 4000 N. 650 E. in Provo. Viewing from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and funeral at 12:00. As our beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother, and friend, we are so blessed to have been a part of your life. We will miss your contagious laugh and sense of humor. Thank you for all you have done for all of us
