Don Lynn Ungerman, 83 passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at his home in Mt. Pleasant Utah in the company of his eldest son, Mark.
Don was born Friday, September 9, 1938 in Hiawatha, Utah to Reid and Thelma Ungerman. His father was an accomplished tradesman, farmer, and cowboy poet. His mother was a grade school scholar and homemaker. He was a middle sibling to two older brothers, Grant and Garth, and to a younger sister, Audrey. When Don was a young child, his family moved from Hiawatha to Orem.
Don graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956. It was here that he met and later married his high-school sweetheart, Bonnie Thompson. Together, in Orem, they raised a family of two sons, Mark and Matthew, and daughter Christine. Later, Don attended Brigham Young University.
Don had over 30 years of service with United States Steel Corporation and retired after working in HR administration. Don was industrious. He owned and operated a successful small business for more than two decades providing RV sales and service. He was also an exceptionally skilled cabinet maker who loved handcrafting beautiful heirloom-quality furniture.
Don was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was the father of two missionaries and later in life, served a mission to South America. His life and actions reflected his love for the Savior. He served in many ward and stake callings. He especially loved the temple and served for more 20 years as a worker in the Provo and Manti temples.
Don is survived by his son, Mark, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former spouse, Bonnie; his youngest son, Matthew; and his daughter, Christine.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 am also at Sundberg-Olpin mortuary 495 South State Street in Orem, with a viewing held that morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to the services. Interment will be at the Orem City cemetery.
