Dee "Randy" Pyne

Dee Randy Pyne, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2026, surrounded by love and the comforts of home. He was 73 years old.

Randy’s life began with a story as unforgettable as the man himself. He was born in the seat of a car on the way from Orem to Provo Hospital on June 25, 1953, arriving before his mother could reach the hospital doors. He was welcomed into the world by his parents, Dee Pyne and Helen MacFarlane Pyne, and raised in Orem, Utah, alongside his sisters Debbie and Michelle. His childhood was shaped by family, good neighbors and friends, but most especially, the steady guidance of his grandfather Pyne, who taught him to work hard and use his time wisely—lessons Randy carried throughout his life.

At just 12 years old, encouraged by his father, Randy launched his first business, revealing the entrepreneurial spirit that would define much of his future. In 1971, he married Debbie Ekins, and together they welcomed two children: Brooke and Hayden. Though Randy and Debbie later parted ways, they remained fast friends, forever connected through their children and shared history.

In 1992, Randy married Ann Marie Nelson, embracing a larger, blended family with five additional children: Jessica, Eliza, Kully, Joey, and Reagan. Randy and Ann shared a deep love for animals—especially dachshunds—and their home was always full of wagging tails and warm companionship.

Professionally, Randy spent many years as a glass specialist, working on high‑rise and commercial projects across Utah. His skill, precision, and pride in his craft earned him respect throughout the industry. Eventually, Randy and his son Hayden founded Pyne Renovation & Design, a company built on Randy’s lifelong dedication to quality workmanship. Under Hayden’s leadership, the business continues to thrive, carrying Randy’s legacy forward.

A Life of Faith, Service, and Second Chances

One of the most meaningful chapters of Randy’s life came when he and Ann found their way back to full fellowship in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints. Their return was a story of faith, forgiveness, and quiet courage—one that inspired their ward family and forged friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Randy served faithfully as a first counselor in the Bishopric, a calling he approached with humility and heart. He especially loved working with the youth. Whether he was teaching them how to build something with their hands, showing them how to use tools safely, or simply encouraging them to believe in their abilities, Randy had a gift for helping young people feel capable and valued. His generosity toward youth programs—both at church and at school—was well known. He gave freely, often sponsoring youth programs with enthusiasm and heartfelt purpose, always wanting young people to have opportunities to learn, grow, and feel supported.

A Man of Humor, Heart, and Colorful Passions

Randy’s interests were as unique and vibrant as he was. He loved Halloween, Christmas, pirates, alligators, rats, and raspberries—just a few of the many things that perfectly captured his delightful eccentricity. His sense of humor was unforgettable, his affection for animals unwavering, and his passion for boating—especially at Lake Powell—brought him joy throughout his life. He was surrounded by loyal friends who stood by him during his final days, a blessing for which his family remains deeply grateful.

Randy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Marie Nelson Pyne, his parents, Dee and Helen Pyne, and by his stepson, Joey Call (Nadia). He is survived by his sisters, Michelle Dunn (Skip) and Debbie Ingram (David), and children: Dee Hayden Pyne (Sandi), Brooke Coombs (Matt), Jessica Pugsley (Mark), Eliza Kindrick (Jeff), Kully Call, Reagan Call (Alisha).

He also leaves behind a gaggle of beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends.

Randy lived a life defined by hard work, humor, devotion, and heart. His legacy lives on in the people he loved, the work he built, and the countless stories that will continue to be shared about him.
