Our beloved father, grandfather, and grandpa great, Dee Taylor Johnson, passed away at home from congestive heart failure on December 26, 2022.
Dee was born on July 19, 1927, to Lydia Almira Taylor and Oliver David Johnson in Springville, UT. He married his sweetheart, AnnaBelle Post, on January 25, 1953, in Anaconda, MT.
Dad loved life and lived it to the fullest. He spoke fondly of his childhood and the adventures that were available to him. When he was 17, he joined the Merchant Marines just after World War II and was later drafted into the army and served with the United States occupation forces in Germany.
Dad’s early working years were spent as a telegrapher for the railroad in Montana and Utah. He later started Johnson Electric, an electrical contracting business. He worked there throughout his life, employing many relatives through the years.
Dee loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and valiantly served in many callings throughout his life. In 2021 he was sealed to his forever sweetheart, AnnaBelle, in the Provo, Utah temple; a goal he had longed for all of his married life.
Dad loved golfing and actually had a hole-in-one! He also loved hunting and the companionship it afforded with friends and relatives. Most of all, he loved fishing and particularly enjoyed trips to his son Jerry’s fishing lodge in Alaska.
Dee is well known as a rock-hound! He loved finding and finishing rocks into attractive jewelry. He worked on his “rocks” up to the very last week before passing. His generosity in sharing finished jewelry is legendary. He often gifted friends, family, and even near strangers with his creations.
Dad is survived by two sisters: Alta (Charles) Sudweeks and Clara (Darwin) Carter, his children Karen (Michael) Silva and Jerald (Jeannie)Johnson, 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
