David Orion Schade

David Orion Schade, 86, of Lindon, Utah, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025. He was born on December 18, 1938, in Portland, Oregon, to Christian Frederick Schade and Dagny Bergstedt Schade. He married Marilyn Elizabeth Bunjes on November 8th, 1963, in the Westwood Hills Christian Church in Los Angeles, California, and then they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on November 9th, 1963.

As a youth, he attended Grover Cleveland High School in Portland, Oregon, and then went on to graduate from BYU in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. In 1960, he began serving in the Norwegian mission, which he absolutely loved! He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at The Presidio in San Francisco. He loved sports, both watching and playing, especially baseball, basketball, football, and skiing. He loved working in his yard, spending time with family and friends. He was always looking for and finding opportunities to serve others. He loved cracking jokes and being a little mischievous as well. He was a die-hard scouter and was a Scout Master for many years. Dave owned and operated a franchise of the L.A. Times after graduating from BYU. Also in L.A., he helped start Bumbleberry Pie Shops. He ran a successful restaurant business with two of his buddies, Jerry and Burt Bullock. It was called Plush Pippin and specialized in freshly made pies. After he retired, he served as a temple worker in the Portland Temple for several years.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, and his six children: Steven, Cynthia, Robert, Linda, Nanci, and Kristin, 20 grandchildren, and 14.5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Fred and John and his half-brothers Ken Schade and Marlon Schade and half-sisters, Relia Schade Edling and Melva Schade Peterson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the LDS Church building on 1051 E 200 S, Lindon, UT 84062. A viewing for friends and family will be held right before the service from 9:30-10:30 AM, with the services commencing at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery immediately following the service.
