David Jensen Harris passed away Monday, September 27, 2021
David was born April 3, 1933 in Provo, Utah to Richard Parkes Harris & Mary Anna Jensen. He married Ruth Mae Barney July 21, 1966 in the Arizona Temple.
David graduated from Provo High School, Brigham Young University with B.S. Degree and later with Master of Education Degree. He is an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
David was a life-long resident of the Provo-Orem area. He taught school for 30 years in Tooele, Dugway, and Provo, Utah. Davis is a member of the Phi Delta Kappa, professional fraternity in education.
Mr. Harris owned several apartment buildings in Provo, including Academy Arms and Manor House. He won many awards for his oil paintings.
Service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Eastern States Mission States as a young man and Salt Lake Family History Mission with his wife; 4 bishoprics; BSA leader for 25 years; ordinance worker in Mt. Timpanogos and Provo Temples for over 22 years.
Survivors: wife Ruth Mae Barney Harris; daughter Brenda Sue Harris Fairbanks (Jordan Dixon Fairbanks) & son Glen Franklin Harris (Summer Marie Zenger Harris); Grandchildren: Allison Jo Fairbanks Gall (Tyler Gall), Spencer David Fairbanks (Randi), Hunter Grace Fairbanks, Harrison Jordan Fairbanks, Jonas Tyler Harris, Glen Finnegan Harris, Maybel Amelia Harris, and Rio Cruz Harris; Great-grandson: Maverick Jordan Fairbanks; Brother, Leland Mack Harris (Kathleen Coons); Sisters; Loma Harris Daniels & Suzanne Harris Tyler.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State State, Orem. Funeral services will be Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Hillcrest 8th Ward Chapel, 1035 South 800 East Orem, with a viewing that morning from 9:30-10:30 at the church prior to the services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences for family may be left on this page.
