David Samuel Elison, 81, of Orem, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was born July 20, 1943, in Maeser, Utah, to Newell Haws Baum and Margaret Elison. He married Linda Rowley, of Orem, on July 28, 1967, in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After serving a church mission to the Southern States Mission, David served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and retired from the Army in 1989, after many years of service. He was a member of The American Legion. After his retirement from the Army, he worked at Dugway Proving Grounds for 20 years as an environmental scientist. He was a devoted lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a temple worker in the Timpanogos and Provo temples for 20 years. He served in many church positions throughout his life with his latest calling being Stake Assistant Clerk. David was devoted to his family and always loved and supported them.
David is survived by his wife, Linda, and his five children: Melinda (Gene) Cottrell of Stansbury Park, Utah; Michelle (Mark) Williams of Tooele, Utah; Melissa (Donald) Simmons of Erda, Utah; Stephen (Janet) Elison of Huntsville, Alabama; and AmiLynn (Brandon) VanTassell of Erda, Utah. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center at 1450 S 800 E, Orem, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem, and on Saturday just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
