David Eagar

September 15, 1954 — November 23, 2021

Pleasant Grove, Utah

David Rex Eagar passed away November 23, 2021, in Orem, Utah due to complications from an illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife, devoted children, family and friends. He was born September 15, 1954, to Wendle and Rexine Eagar.

Dave was a peacemaker from the beginning to the end. He dearly loved his family and was happiest when he was with them. He married his Sweetheart, Tareasa Newell, on August 8, 1990, and was blessed with one daughter, Kaytee, three sons, Russell, Mikell, and Ryan and 10 grandchildren, Bailey, Raylon, Matthew, Julia, Emma, Henry, Damon, Carter, Ava, and Chloe.

With very high honors, and at the top of his class, David graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts in English. He worked for Utah County and in the Office of the State of Utah Fire Marshall as a safety health inspector at hospitals, rest homes, and The Development Center.

David was gifted in so many ways. He loved to compose music, write lyrics, and sing his own songs. He was the vocalist in several bands and sang for many people at dances, weddings, and nightclubs. His voice was warm and soothing.

He was proficient in car mechanics. Many times, he rescued a stranded vehicle, repaired engine malfunctions, and helped someone get a vehicle back to running order. For the past 30 years, he had been meticulously working on the restoration of a 1968 Pontiac Firebird. Once the engine and body work were done, he had it painted an eye-catching pearly blue. It was almost ready to show-off to the world. He looked forward to road trips with Tareasa; she couldn’t wait for a ride in that car.

He will be remembered for his generous smile, his kindness, his silly jokes, his mellow singing voice, his bear hugs, and his generosity with everything he owned. Everyone who knew him was certain that he would drop anything and come if his help was needed.

He was a natural leader and had the powerful ability to arbitrate between people with differing opinions. Never dismissing the feelings of others, he was an advocate for everyone. With great patience and understanding, he comforted and supported people through difficult problems and challenges. As a result of his care, many people were gently assisted back to their life’s path.

With great kindness, he earned the love and loyalty of many precious pets. He loved dogs and cats and they loved him. Yuki, Bandit, Cesar, Mr. Gray, Boo, Max and Mozzie were all blessed to be his animal friends.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife and companion, Tareasa, his children, Russell, Mikell, Ryan, Kaytee and their spouses, as well as by his grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, and best friend, Kim.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate David’s life on December 2, 2021, at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Street, Orem, Utah. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00.
