Craig Allred Decker

Craig Allred Decker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, died peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Lehi, Utah, at the age of 82. He was surrounded by loved ones.

The second eldest child of Webster Decker and Moreho Allred Decker, Craig was raised in New York, New York, and in Salt Lake City, Utah. From childhood, Craig demonstrated a love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life.

Craig was a gifted musician with a wonderful singing voice, and he performed in many venues throughout his life. For example, while serving a mission in Brazil, Craig helped form a missionary quartet, the Modern Melodaires. He played guitar and his deep bass voice earned him the nickname “Bottomless Craig." The group traveled throughout Brazil and Uruguay, sharing the message of the gospel through music and service.

The quartet performed approximately 280 concerts, recorded an album, and appeared on Brazilian national television. Their efforts generated many missionary referrals and substantially increased public awareness of the Church throughout Brazil and Uruguay.

On December 22, 1967, Craig married Alison Hardy in the Salt Lake Temple. They welcomed six boys and six girls into their family and adopted three siblings who were refugees of the Vietnam War and, together, raised 15 children. Their home was filled with light, music and laughter. After almost 45 years of marriage, Alison passed away on December 1, 2012. Three years later, Craig married Marjorie ("Margie") Wyler, the mother of 15 adult children. Additionally, Margie and Craig fostered their daughter, Ruby Erickson, bringing their total to 31 children.

Craig was deeply proud of his children, and he chose to focus primarily on serving within his family and church community.

He felt humbled to serve as a bishop and as a counselor in various bishoprics in San Diego. He later served as First Counselor to the Stake President in the Peñasquitos, California Stake.

While in Arizona, he served in various callings, such as teaching gospel doctrine. For many years, he conducted church services in local nursing homes, which is a calling he came to deeply love.

Craig developed a passion for family history and spent years researching and sharing stories of his ancestors.

For the last decade, Craig and Margie served weekly together as temple workers in the Timpanogos and Saratoga Springs temples. Temple work was one of the great joys of his life, and Craig often bore testimony to his children of the importance of temple service.

Craig earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah and his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law. He practiced law in California and Arizona and was also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Craig was exemplary in his service and commitment to his family and faith. Craig's greatest legacy is as a devoted husband and loving father. We know we will be together again as a family.

Craig is survived by his wife, Margie Wyler Decker, his siblings Rodney Decker, Jeannie Ann Decker and Margaret K. Decker, and his children: Annie (Richard) Dinh, David (Lucy) Tran, Amy Tran, Nathan (Diana) Decker, Alison (Oliver) Russell, Jared (Sarah) Decker, Rachel Decker Clifford, Joshua Decker, Jacob (Brenda) Decker, Maren Decker, Hyrum (Chelsea) Decker, Elizabeth (Porter) Caradine, Seth (Jacque) Decker, Laura (Cody) Peterson, Clare (Chris) Thomas. Jaime (Nick) Hamilton, Janelle (Jim Rayburn) Wyler, Mindy (Shawn) Spencer, Jeffery (Diane) Wyler, Kristina (Derek) Christensen, Jason Wyler, Danyale (David) Harris, Holly (Benjamin) Pipes, Richard Wyler, Noel (Aaron) Knudsen, Katie (Luke) Jarvis, Keaton (Rachel) Wyler, Crystal (Keith) Wheeler, Andrew (Ashley) Mcpike, Jessica Price, foster daughter Ruby Erickson.

Craig was preceded in death by his wife, Alison Hardy Decker; his parents, Webster Decker and Moreho Allred Decker; his son, Jared Hardy Decker; and his brother, James Weston Decker.

An evening viewing will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the LDS Church located at 136 West Summerhill Drive, Saratoga Springs, Utah.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21st, also at the church, with a viewing held that morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services. Interment 12:30-1:30 pm, will be in the Lehi City Cemetery, 1525 North 600 East, Lehi, Utah.
