Clayton Thomas Vest, 45, returned unexpectedly to his Heavenly Father August 24, 2021. His fight with addiction was a weight he carried and which ultimately lead to his passing. He was born December 11, 1975 in Provo, Utah to Keri De Nicol and Robert Thayne Murray. He was adopted by Milo Dennis James Vest. Clayton married his high school sweetheart, Staci Newell, and they had 3 beautiful daughters. (Divorced) He married Kallie Fairholm and added her son to his life. (Divorced). In the last chapter of his life he met and fell in love with his Mrs. Potato Head Natalia Lafollette and her daughter Bella. They loved spending time in Indianola building their dream of a homestead.
His children and grandchildren were number 1 in his life – they were where it started and ended for him. His motto was Family first, and ALWAYS!!! That was his goal. Divorced or not Clayton remained best friends with his ex-wives. He was a gifted, talented, charismatic man. He shared his awe for the world around him, and gave everyone he met his personal attention. He was with them in the moment and he made tremendous impacts on those around him.
He spoke nearly flawless self-taught Spanish which he learned specifically to help those who couldn’t speak English. He was innately willing to do anything for anyone and his heart was as huge as his smile and he smiled all the time. Clayton exuded strength, yet was loving, kind, and goofy, and loved to share silly dad jokes in a morning text to ‘start our days with a smile’.
Clayton loved everything construction, starting as a masonry hod-tender for his dad, working his way to a journeyman mason. He loved operating heavy machinery, and building custom furniture. Anything fast was his thing; riding motorcycles, snowboarding, skiing, talking, and walking. His body could hardly contain the energy within. Though fishing and cooking were his calmer spaces.
He is survived by his daughters, Shaquel (Jesse) Hodgins, Alexus Vest (Ben Loader), Jerika Vest, the children of his heart his son Talan Fairholm, and daughter Bella Lafollette, and two grandsons Silas Hodgins and Konrad Loader. Three brothers, Christopher (Cindy) Vest, Steven (Aarin) Vest, Colter Vest and three sisters, Angie De Taylor, Breena Vest, Cecily (Brandon) Humble and his parents Keri Nicol (Greg) Vergari, and Dennis (Kristy) Vest. His grandmothers Coe Nicol, and Mary Murray. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Thayne ‘Bob’ Murray, his cousin Vern A. Stratton, and grandfathers Thomas ‘Keith’ Nicol, and Thayne Ellis Murray.
