Charles Brailsford

June 6, 1936 — May 30, 2014

Charles Thomas Brailsford, 77, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Charles was born June 6, 1936 in Springville, Utah, to James Earl Brailsford and Florence Beesley. He married Carol Ford and had five children; they later divorced. He remarried Myra Christy Maynard October 15, 1982. They were married 32 wonderful years. Charles attended Springville High School and graduated in the class of 1955. After graduating, he and his brothers began work in the field of masonry. Brailsford Masonry became one of the largest masonry companies in the state, aiding in the construction of many important buildings such as the Provo Temple, the Marriott Center, Springville High School, and the Huntsman Special Events Center. Later on, Charles would retire from Geneva Steel, where he worked as a crane operator. True to his nature, Charles worked until his very last day on this earth. His favorite things included selling Christmas tress, rock hunting, fishing at Strawberry Reservoir, and traveling. He kept his yard immaculately gorgeous and his grandchildren spoiled. Charles had an infectious personality, as he would make friends wherever he went. He welcomed people into his life as they were and stepped in to fill many roles in their lives. Charles is survived by his wife Myra, his daughters Daunetta (John) Larsen, Charlene (Blake) Larsen, Lesa (Gareth) Donly, Mary Brailsford, and son, Darin Brailsford. Through his marriage to Myra, he is also survived by Patti (Greg) Howard, Lee (Jana- deceased) Maynard, Billy (Candice) Maynard, and Robert Maynard. Together, Charles and Myra have 38 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with five more on the way. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Dale and Lewis, and grandson Travis Wright. A viewing will be held Monday June 2 at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 3 at the Suncrest 1st Ward Meetinghouse at 1:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery. In the words of Waylon Jennings, we're gonna miss you "brown eyed handsome man".
