Cameron Cahoon, July 4, 1973 – July 7, 2026, Loved So Well

On July 7 at 3:33, our family lost its youngest brother and one of the greatest blessings in our lives. Cameron Cahoon—Cam to all who knew and loved him—was 53 years old. He was the kindest, most giving, compassionate, and selfless person we have ever known. His passing leaves a void that words cannot fill, yet his life was so remarkable it must be honored.

Cam never sought attention. He didn’t want a funeral or even an obituary. In one final, loving act of disobedience, we honor him anyway.

A devoted son, Cam set aside his own life for years to care for our Mother during her battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He served her with extraordinary tenderness, patience, and unwavering loyalty. We feel so much comfort in knowing he is now joyfully reunited with the mother he “Loved So Well.”

Blessed with a beautiful tenor voice, Cam’s musical gifts took him around the world. He shone in leading roles including Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, Noah in The Ark, and many others. He performed in Forever Plaid, at the Fringe Festival in the United Kingdom, at the Carriage House Theatre in Cardston, Alberta, with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and in countless other unforgettable productions. His voice had the power to lift hearts and linger in memory long after the final note.

Cam was equally passionate as a music and drama teacher. He generously shared his talents with students, nurturing their love of the arts and helping them discover their own voices—both in music and in life.

Beyond his remarkable stage presence, Cam was the most hilarious storyteller and the truest of friends. His stories could fill a room with laughter, and he made everyone around him feel important and valued. He gave freely, loved without condition, and quietly made the world better for anyone fortunate enough to know him.

Cam left this life during a routine procedure related to his dialysis. The date and time feel sacred—a tender reassurance that his earthly work was complete, his suffering ended, and he is whole and at home.

Cam wrote and sang a beautiful song titled “Loved So Well” for our mother’s funeral. Those words now perfectly describe his own life. He loved so well, and he was—and always will be—loved beyond measure.

Cam is survived by his sisters Lisa (John) Conrad and Kristy (Dan) Sego and his brothers Greg (Linda) Cahoon and Ben (Kim) Cahoon and his loyal dog Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents (Carol Joan Redford and Kenneth D Cahoon).
