Listen to Obituary

Bryan Young Weight was born on September 6th, 1953, in Huntington Park, California, to Robert Hogan and Charlotte Young Weight. He was a true Southern California child, and his favorite activities were surfing, swimming, and water polo. He loved nothing more than spending a day at the beach with his brother, Willis, and friends.

Throughout his life, Bryan was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Eastern States mission in 1973, sharing good news and serving the people in the northeastern United States. He spent a significant amount of his mission in New York City. He loved helping others and serving in church.

On a snowy December day in 1977, Bryan married Charlotte Hall–the love of his life–in the Manti, Utah Temple. His wife and children were the most important people in his life, and he spent countless hours attending soccer games, track meets, daddy-daughter dances, helping with homework, hunting with his sons, and once even brought home a surprise six-foot pet snake for his kids without telling his wife.

In addition to caring for his family, testifying about Jesus Christ was his greatest life purpose. He spent years compiling and composing his thoughts on Jesus in a three-book series called Jesus, The Messiah, which he published in his later years.

Bryan spent his professional life as a civil engineer, first for a large construction company, and later, running his own home inspection business. He will be fondly remembered for driving his Honda Civic with giant ladders on top. Later, he expanded the business to a forensic engineering consulting service and enjoyed helping homeowners and companies solve problems.

In retirement, he worked as a service missionary with Charlotte at Camp Alpine in Oregon. He fixed buildings, mowed lawns, and was the general handyman for a camp servicing hundreds of young women each summer. The camp also became a special haven for his grandchildren year-round. Over a hundred trees fell during the first year of his mission, and he spent a lot of time with a chainsaw.

Bryan passed on Mar 11, 2026; his family and friends will lovingly remember him. He leaves behind his wife, Charlotte, their children, Sarah (Brandon), Hannah (Josh), Hyrum, and Trace (Niki). He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Charlotte, Elena, Jack, Jasmine, Kaden, Kalia, Kyler, Becky, and Savvy Jo, and siblings Willis (Stephanie), Marian (Brian), Renea (Reo), Beverly (Jeff), and his brother-in-law, LaMar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Charlotte, and his sister Ellen.

Bryan’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21st, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 11300 North Highland Boulevard, Highland, Utah, with a viewing held that morning at the church from 9 am-10 am, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please tell dad jokes to someone you love, until they roll their eyes. That would make him very happy.
