Brenda June Young

On Thursday, May 2^nd, Brenda June Young our sister, Special Aunt ‘B’ and friend passed from this life to a better into the waiting arms of her father and mother, Murray Penrod Young and Bernece Cullimore, and her brothers Bob and Stephen; along with Nieces – Janelle Bartlome and Marci Jones, Nephew Gordon Scott and Brother-in-law Clark.

Brenda spread love and joy wherever she went.  Many lives have been touched and hearts changed because of her perfect example of Christlike love.

Brenda was born 21 June 1941 in Oakland, California.  The family moved to Utah soon afterwards, where she stayed the rest of her life.

She was called to serve a mission in New Zealand.  This is just where she wanted to go.  After a successful mission, she began school at LDS Business College.  Following graduation and a brief job as a secretary at BYU, she began working for Intermountain Healthcare at LDS Hospital.   She transferred to Utah Valley Hospital where she stayed until retirement following 49 ½ years as Payroll Secretary.  

Brenda had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She held many positions in the church, but her favorites were always those where she was able to serve the children.  Her favorite – the nursery.  Followed close behind were the Primary and Cub Scouts.

She will be greatly missed by her Brother Jim (Lorraine) and Sister Kris – their kids and grandkids as well as Brother Stephen’s wife, Carolyn and their kids and grandkids; and numerous extended family members.

Thanks to IHC Hospice and to Visiting Angels who helped with Brenda’s care the last month and a half.

An extra special thank you – filled with love to Brad and Sarah who gave Aunt B their everything as her live-in caregivers.  She was truly blessed by their love and care.

The funeral will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 at the Hillcrest 1^st ward house 1450 South 800 East Orem, with viewing from 10-10;45 a.m.  There will be a viewing at Sunberg Olpin Mortuary, 495 So State, Orem, Friday, May 10, 2024, from 6-8:00 p.m.
