Bonnie Brimhall Kofford, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family, at age 81 on March 21, 2026, following a valiant and courageous two-month battle with ovarian cancer. Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion that will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
Born on September 21, 1944, in Provo, Utah, to Maurine and Wells Smoot Brimhall, Bonnie was raised in a home full of love and faith. She was united in marriage to her eternal companion, Keith Richard “Dick” Kofford, on April 2, 1965, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Bonnie’s love and devotion to her husband were a shining example of a lifelong partnership. Together they created a beautiful family, including their three children, Brenda, Brandon, and Kendra, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bonnie’s life was a testament to hard work and service. In her 50s, she returned to school to earn a B.A. in social work, showing her commitment to lifelong learning and her desire to help others. She was a skilled quilter, seamstress, baker, and crafter. She often shared her skills with her children and grandchildren and helped to foster a love for these hobbies that will live on through generations.
Bonnie loved the outdoors, and many summers were spent at the cabin at Strawberry Reservoir, where she enjoyed the beauty of nature and precious moments with family. She also looked forward to the annual Brimhall Family Reunion at Snowbird, where she created lasting memories with loved ones. Her love for the outdoors was matched by her passion for animals, especially her beloved horses.
Bonnie’s service to others stretched far beyond her family. She spent decades as a leader in 4-H, teaching young people the value of hard work and creativity. She also served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, and particularly loved her time serving in the YSA Ward with Dick. Together, they also served a service mission at the Lindon Cannery, where their service to others continued to bless lives. Bonnie’s faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She bore an unwavering testimony of his love and the eternal nature of families. Her faith guided her life and brought comfort and strength to everyone around her.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Maurine and Wells Smoot Brimhall, as well as her beloved brother, Wells L. Brimhall. We take comfort in knowing she has been joyfully reunited with them. She is survived by her husband, Dick; her children, Brenda (Tim) Johnson, Brandon (Susan) Kofford, Kendra (Chris) Blinzinger, and Tomoe Urio (Daisuke) Uchimura; her siblings, Janelle (Peter, deceased) Lysenko (UT), Steven K. (Mary Jo) Brimhall (CA), George (Brenda, deceased) Brimhall (AZ), and Sue Brimhall (Steve) Bishop (AZ); her 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many other friends and family members who will miss her dearly.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 10:30-12:30 p.m. at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem. This will be immediately followed by a Graveside service at 1:30 pm at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo. Bonnie will be laid to rest in the western part of the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Humanitarian Fund through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
