Blair Herbert Harrison, 95, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, and was reunited with his beloved wife Barbara, his sweetheart of over 74 years.
Blair was born May 8, 1930, in Cache Valley, Utah, to Herbert Blair Harrison and Alta Leona Kemp Harrison. He was the second of 5 children. Blair fondly remembered spending childhood days lying in the shade under a hay cart, making up stories with his sister Leona — the start of a lifetime of artful storytelling.
Mutual friends conspired to set Blair up with his future wife, Barbara Jeanne Kirk, by arranging a group outing and then abandoning them. Trying to make the best of it, Blair pulled out his guitar and started playing country songs. Barbara joined in to sing along, and Blair realized that Barbara could harmonize along to anything he played without any practice. Blair and Barbara were inseparable after that and married on October 11, 1950, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, Temple. They continued to fill their lives and the lives of the children and grandchildren with music thereafter.
Blair served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. His service in the military allowed him to attend school via the GI Bill. Blair graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Prior to graduating, Blair was headhunted and began his engineering career for Hewlett-Packard. After retirement, Blair taught physics and calculus at Utah Valley Community College.
Blair was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and proudly and faithfully served his ward community in many callings. He served a mission to Louisville, Kentucky, with his sweetheart Barbara.
Blair is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jeanne Kirk Harrison, his sons Blair Eugene Harrison and Kirk Dee Harrison, and his daughters-in-law Kathleen Ann Hunter Harrison and Deborah Kay Lavelett Harrison. He is survived by his children Alan Dale Harrison, Paul Edward Harrison, and Kris Herbert Harrison, as well as his daughters-in-law Faline Parrish Harrison and Julieta Gomez Garcia Harrison. Blair is also survived by 29 grandchildren, plus many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 95 North 600 West, Orem, with a viewing held that morning at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
