Beverly Powell Adams

On March 16, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah, as James Albert and Inez Leila Thomas Powell first held the 10th of their 11 children, did they contemplate how this child, BEVERLY THOMAS POWELL ADAMS would improve the beauty of this world?

As Beverly grew, her talents became apparent and her ceaseless spirituality, moving music, sharp sarcasm and impressive intellect formed the eventual pattern of her life. Beverly began studying piano as a child. Her formal education started at age 18, attending Brigham Young University, where she met her ‘Handsome Husband’, Homer Lee (Duke) Adams. They were married in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple, on September 25th, 1947. Their marriage exemplified the power of loving service and hard work. 

As she and Duke raised their 5 children, Beverly’s commitment to continual service could be observed in her phenomenal food, which she shared generously, her excellence in music, which was enjoyed by all blessed to meet her, and her unselfish use of her time. In addition, she was a life-long learner, graduating from the BYU music department at age 55.

Beverly passed from this life on December 21, 2023. She was predeceased by her Eternal Husband, H.L. (Duke) Adams, Oldest Daughter, Rebecca Layne Adams May, Son-in-law, Tom May, and Great Great Grandson, Gianni Andelin.

Survivors include Beverly’s 4 children and spouses, 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren:

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 1555 North 1350 West, Provo, Utah. A viewing for Family and friends will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
