Barbara Karpowitz

September 15, 1931 — February 3, 2018

Barbara Jean Breeze Karpowitz 86, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018. She was born September 15, 1931, to Claude and Edna Breeze in Salt Lake City, Utah. Barbara was raised in Salt Lake City and attended South High School where she met her sweetheart Robert "Bob" Karpowitz. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple August 29, 1950.

She was an elect lady. She loved her children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than anything, and loved doing things for them. Mom’s hobbies included being with her grandchildren, gardening, serving others, and her friends. Mom and Dad loved to golf and mom loved “Ladies Day” on Tuesdays at Riverside Country Club.

Mom was a big BYU fan and loved going to all of the football and basketball games with Karen for many years. They followed the football team to many bowl games. After dad passed away, she loved to travel and visited countries all over the world with her friends and family.

Mother worked for the Utah County Auditor’s office and the Utah County Appraiser. She was the first woman in Utah County to become an Appraiser and to work in that office. After retirement, she worked at the lab at Utah Valley Hospital. She then volunteered at Timpanogos Hospital. Mom served at the Mt Timpanogos Temple for many years. Most of all Mom loved her family.

Survivors include daughters Karen Karpowitz and Kathy (Barry) Smith, seven wonderful grandchildren whom she adored, and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her bother Floyd (Janet) Breeze. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her son Robert Kent, and her daughter Kory Lees.
