Arlene Rowley Gammon, 80, of Orem, UT, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021. She was born at home May 13, 1941 in Provo, Utah, the second daughter, to Arden Lavar Rowley and Alene Terry Rowley. She married Robert Welby Gammon on December 16, 1959 at the age of 18 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2004.
Arlene was raised in Orem along with her five sisters and one brother. After marrying Bob and having two children, they moved to Idaho Falls, ID where another son and daughter were born. After several years there, the growing family moved to Bellevue, WA where another son was born. Within a couple years, the family relocated back to Utah where they settled in Payson and enjoyed the birth of their sixth child and final son. In 1977, Arlene and her family moved one more time, back home to Orem, where she lived until her passing. Her and her family were very close. She worked for many years in her brother’s shoe shop - The Village Shoemaker, followed by the alterations department at Z.C.M.I. in the University Mall. She retired from Z.C.M.I. in 2001 when her husband retired so they could camp and travel together. She was a cherished wife and mother who loved sewing, cooking and all things crafty. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life and raised her children in the faith. She served in numerous callings in the church including Relief Society, Primary and Young Women.
Arlene is survived by her children: Don & Sherry Gammon of Fairport, NY; Vicki & Scott Holman of West Jordan, UT; Kent (Moody) and Terry Gammon of West Jordan, UT; Sherree & Larry Terry of South Jordan, UT; Kirk & Shannon Gammon of White Lake, MI; Dee Allan Gammon of Orem, UT; 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her parents, her brother, Dennis Rowley, and her husband.
Funeral services will he held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Orem 4th ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 50 South 800 East, Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sundberg Olpin & Wheeler Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah and on Wednesday just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church building. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery alongside her beloved husband Bob.
