After 48 radiant years filled with love, laughter, and light, Aries Pangilinan passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 3, 2025, and returned to his heavenly home.
Born on August 20, 1976, in Tarlac, Philippines, Aries was the first-born child of Edgardo and Carolina (Sigua) Pangilinan. He spent his early childhood in the Philippines before moving to Australia with his family at the age of 14. At 17, Aries’s family ventured to Orem, Utah, where he graduated from Mountain View High School in 1996.
To know Aries was to love him. His authenticity, kindness, and ability to light up any room made a lasting impression on everyone he met. With a heart that never grew old, Aries lived with a childlike joy and a purity of spirit that reminded us all what truly matters in life. Just a few minutes in his presence could lift your burdens and bring a smile to your face.
Aries had a magnetic personality and was never shy about entertaining—especially when it came to dancing. Play a Michael Jackson song, and he would channel his inner “Smooth Criminal” with moves that delighted all.
He found joy in the simplest of things: singing karaoke, sharing his vast knowledge of sports and movies, and playing NBA 2K. Whether at a family gathering, working in a warehouse, at Deseret Industries or the Megaplex, or relaxing at home, Aries was always passionately expressing himself and bringing joy to others.
A devoted sports fan, Aries wore his heart on his sleeve for his teams—the Utah Jazz and San Francisco 49ers. His love for BYU sports ran deep for over 30 years. He was thrilled just weeks ago to receive heartfelt messages from BYU legends such as Jimmer Fredette, Kalani Sitake, Chad Lewis, Gifford Nielson and others—heroes who meant the world to him.
Aries also had a passion for martial arts, earning his third-degree black belt and forming lasting friendships through his training.
Even in his final days, Aries found strength to attend the BYU Legends Cruise, where he fulfilled a dream by mingling with the athletes he had long admired.
Surrounded by his family at the time of his passing, Aries left this world with a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and a heart full of love. We take comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into eternity by the Savior he so faithfully followed.
Aries is survived by his loving parents, Edgardo Sandiego Pangilinan and Carolina Sigua Pangilinan; his brother, Allen Pangilinan (Laarni); sister, Arlynn Pangilinan Lawrence (Dallas); and his beloved nephew and nieces: Jared, Makeila, Kylie, and Brielle.
We invite all who knew and loved Aries to join us in celebrating his incredible life. Memorial and funeral service details are as follows:
