Listen to Obituary

Amelia Esther Fornili Campbell, age 85, of Orem, Utah, passed away early in the morning of June 26, 2025, in her home.

Amelia was born to Riccardo Richard Fornili and Frances Josephine Lippi of Paterson, New Jersey. She was a devoted wife to Loyd Wellborn Campbell, Jr, whom she married on May 20, 1966. Just three days later, on May 23, 1966, the 2 sweethearts were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

A graduate of Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in 1958, Amelia furthered her education at secretarial school, earning a diploma in secretarial studies. She began her professional career with Bell Telephone Company in New Jersey. Later, she transferred to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and relocated to Dallas, Texas. It was during this time, her sister, Velma Varvel, introduced her to the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ—a faith that would shape the rest of her life.

Amelia continued working for Southwestern Bell until she and Loyd started their family. She found great joy in working with children and served faithfully in various callings within the Primary, Young Women, and at both ward and stake levels.

Her passions included sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family. Although Amelia and Loyd made Texas their home for most of their married life, she always considered herself a Jersey girl at heart, even as she spent far more years in Texas. Nearly two years ago, they moved to Orem, Utah, where Amelia delighted in the changing seasons, especially Fall, with all the colors and the beautiful snow-capped mountains.

Amelia is survived by her beloved husband, Loyd (Texan by heart but currently living in Orem), her 4 children, Susan (Michael) Wilson of Salem, UT, Trey (Suzi) Campbell of Dallas, TX, Teresa (Robert) Malouf of Princeton, TX, and Richard (Annette) Campbell of Melissa, TX, 21 grandchildren (34 including spouses), 14 great grandchildren and her sister, Velma Varvel of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Vincent Fornili, and her grandson, Cody Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on July 7, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Orem Center Branch LDS chapel located at 80 South 280 East, Orem, UT 84058. A viewing for friends and family will be held prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be held the following week, July 14, at the Utah Veterans Cemetery, 17111 South Camp Williams Road (1700 West), Bluffdale, Utah 84065.
