Jody (Berg) Renstrom

December 23, 1933 ~ January 10, 2019 (age 85)

This beautiful lady, Jody Berg Renstrom, 85, returned home to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on January 10, 2019.  She was surrounded by her loved ones as her earthly life came to an end. It is so comforting to know she is with the love of her life, Keith, celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary, not having to spend even one anniversary apart.

Jody was born on her mother’s birthday, December 23rd, 1933 in Silver City Utah to Lester Herman Berg and Esther Olive Johnson.  The family relocated to southern California when she was a young girl. At the age of 10, Jody was no longer an only child when her parents had her little sister, Marion. Jody found her faith in the LDS church when she was only 12 years old and was baptized at the age of 17. Since finding the church, Jody has always been so faithful in her beliefs. She loved her Heavenly Father and the Gospel.

After graduating from Leuzinger High School, Jody attended BYU for several years and eventually decided to become a stewardess for United Airlines, where she first developed her love of travel and fashion. Jody was always the best dressed anywhere she went. Her taste and sense of style was well recognized by everyone who met her. As well as her taste and love for decorating.

Jody married the love of her life, Keith Renstrom, in the St. George Temple. Keith adored Jody and always referred to her as his “beautiful wife”!  Jody always wanted a large family and they had one – 4 boys and 3 girls.  Jody was very proud of all her children and grandchildren for their many talents and achievements. Jody’s family adored her and credit her for encouraging them to pursue their passions. They brought much joy and happiness into her and Keith’s lives.

Jody was creative, artistically inclined and had a passion for the arts.  She was accomplished actress, writer, songwriter and oil painter. Her love of the theater eventually led them to open the Valley Center Playhouse, a place people could bring their families for good clean wholesome entertainment, for nearly 40 years. Jody acted, directed, produced and eventually wrote 15 plays and musicals and 40 original songs. In addition to running the theater, Jody traveled the United States for 27 years performing two self-written one-woman shows of Portrait of Emma, and Mary, the Chosen.

Jody and Keith were recognized by the Office of the Governor for their lifelong service to the residents of Utah for their many contributions in community theater, the Miss Utah County pageant, pageants, and the American Cancer Society. They also received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts. Jody was actively involved in the community and was proud to serve as the President of the Orem Women’s Club.

Jody is survived by six of her children, Keith Jr.; Greg (Melanie); Leslie Gallagher (Craig); Julie Day (Steve); John (Carrie); Mike (Jerusha); 19 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and sister Marion Gustavson.  She was reunited in heaven with her loving husband, daughter Launa Pino, daughter-in-law Kathy Renstrom, parents, and grandparents.
