- About Us
Alene Rae Anderson Christensen passed away quietly at home surrounded by her family. She fought with grace and dignity for over a year against pancreatic cancer.
Alene was born on June 30th, 1943 in Salt Lake City to Clifton Alfred and Erma Beth Johnson Anderson. She was the third daughter of the four Anderson Girls. She attended and graduated from South High in 1961. She was married to Lyle Ray Kendal for a short time. She was then married in the Salt Lake Temple to Clyde Ray Christensen for the length of 32 years. She had 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys. She always said that is the one perfect thing she did. They moved around a lot during the time that she raised her family, including Washington State, Oregon, California and finally settling back in Orem, Utah.
She has worked outside the home, mainly at the schools her children attended. She finished her career by retiring as the District Coordinator of Staples. As a devoted lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she held many callings. Her favorite calling was being an early morning seminary teacher. She loved to share her love of the gospel with her students. She felt a deep commitment to family history and would spend many of her days captivated in connecting the past to the future.
During the last 20 years of her life, Alene was the caregiver for her son, Allen. This was due to a traumatic brain injury that he sustained while he was in the army. When she was diagnosed with cancer, her biggest concern was for him. Her prayers did not go unanswered and she knew that he would be taken care of.
Alene was proceed by her parents and her sister, Claudia (Richard) Barth. She is survived by her children;
Allison (Ed) Cordova of Lehi, UT., Robin (John) Brinkmann of Federal Way, WA., Lisa (Sam) Cowan of Pleasant Grove, UT., Clyde Allen Christensen of Payson, UT & Travis (Leanne) Christensen of West Jordan, UT. She is also survived by her sisters; Delores (Pat) Scouten; Taylorsville, UT., & Sharon (Kent) Bushman of Magna, UT. She leaves a legacy of 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
We, her children would like to especially thank Dr. Wallentine, Dr. Garner, their Staff, Nurse Lisa with Alpha Hospice, Northfield 1st ward, Geneva Heights 4th Ward and all of our family and friends that have shared in the care & support of Alene during this year long battle.
