Vila Van (Jenks) WarnerJuly 13, 1930 ~ September 23, 2017 (age 87)
Vila Jenks Warner, 87, of Orem, passed away in her home on Saturday, September 23, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Surrounded by family that took turns holding her hand and sitting by her bedside, she peacefully made the transition home to a host of friends and family, who eagerly awaited her arrival, including her husband, Keith Warner.
Vila Warner was born in College Ward, Utah, on July 13, 1930. She married Wilson Keith Warner on September 1, 1950, in the Logan, Utah, temple. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1996.
She spent her life caring for her family and her selfless service to her family, friends, neighbors, and to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her works of service were often secret. She did not seek the spotlight but preferred to be in the role of supporting cast but as her life on this earth ended, it had become clear that she stole the show.
Vila did not preach to others; she preferred to live her religion. She believed in being a doer of the word, not a hearer only. She was funny, adventurous, humble, incredibly giving and had perfected patience. She served others and didn’t keep score to see if she had received more than she gave because had she done so there was no one that could give her a game.
She lived this life as a humble wife and mother. She did not need to be honored with plaques and awards from organizations to know that her life mattered. Vila Warner has moved on to the next life where all her works have been well documented. We grieve for her loss but find comfort in knowing how great shall be her reward.
Vila is survived by her four children: Karen (Warner) Stone of Frisco, Texas; Janice (Warner) Dabling of Orem, utah; Randall Warner of Alpine, Utah; and Neil Warner of Provo, Utah; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; her brother David Jenks, and her sister Alice (Jenks) Koch.
The family would like to thank Lora Black, Emma Robinson of Brighton Home Health & Hospice for their help and care for her as well as Crystal and Tyler Dabling, Gentry Dabling and Sienna Jepperson for the extensive care they gave her.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home at 495 South State Street in Orem, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be at 10 a.m., an hour prior to the funeral service.
