Betty Jayne (Crawley) HeadmanAugust 10, 1928 ~ December 28, 2017 (age 89)
Betty Jayne Crawley Headman, 89, passed away on December 28, 2017, at the home of her son Chip (Janette) Headman in San Tan Valley, Arizona, as a result of a stroke. She was born August 10,1928, in Huntington Park, California, to Loraine Thomas Crawley and Jayne Elizabeth Hibbert.
While attending BYU majoring in art, Betty met her sweetheart Sidney Earl Headman. They were married July 28, 1948, in Glendale, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple on November 7, 1953. They lived in Southern California until 1958 when they moved to Provo and Mapleton before settling in Orem.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served wherever asked with full purpose of heart. She was an avid genealogist, serving three years as a service missionary at home at her computer troubleshooting for others searching their ancestry. Betty also served as a temple worker at the Timpanogos Temple.
Betty was a loving wife and mother of six children. She was a refined homemaker who was always in on the latest crafting trends. She was an artist and found her niche in tole painting. She was co-owner of the Painted Bouquet which was later bought by Provo Craft. She not only taught classes and managed that division but also designed and wrote over 20 tole painting books. Later, she created and sold her originals to craft boutiques up and down the Wasatch Front.
Mom and Dad's greatest love was being with the family. Often it was camping in Arches where our entire family got together every Easter. We always took over the ENTIRE campground because no one wanted to miss that trip. Other trips included Yellowstone in Septembers, Mexico, and going on cruises. They loved going with as many family members as could possibly go because there would be more people to play games with; like Mexican Train, Hand and Foot, or any card game we could think of. In their later years, they lived for their Friday night dates with Dean and Cindy.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patti Reber, and granddaughter Tiffany Ann Hurley. She is survived by her husband Sid; and children: Cindy (Dean) Schauerhamer of Spanish Fork, Utah; Cris (Randy) Hurley of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Sandi (Richard) Jaussi of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Chip (Janette) Headman of San Tan Valley, Arizona; Pam Staich of Highland, Utah; and Wendy Davis of Washington, Utah. Betty has been blessed with 29 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren with two on the way.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest 4th Ward building located at 440 East 800 South, Orem, Utah. A viewing will precede the funeral at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
