Myrna Sue Ernst Harbaugh passed away June 12, 2011, in her home in Orem, Utah, of complications related to pancreatic cancer. She was 65 years old.
Myrna was born July 3, 1945, in Panaca to Franklin Frederick and Eliza Catherine Hunt Matthews Ernst. She grew up in Panaca, where she graduated from Lincoln County High School. Family was her great passion, and for the better part of forty years Myrna organized family gatherings from simple Sunday dinners, gathering her nine children, to extended family reunions. She actively collected both oral and video histories and took great pleasure in seeking out and visiting extended family in Nevada, Montana, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and beyond.
Myrna shared a lifelong love of music with her family, singing in and directing choirs and serving as ward and Primary chorister. She especially loved her time serving in both the Primary and the Nursery in her LDS ward. She was also actively engaged in volunteer work and served in the PTA and in the Orem Parent Education Resource Center (PERC) for more than two decades as both staff member and director.
Myrna is survived by her husband, Leroy; her brothers and sisters, Edna (Dick) Guymon, Joyce Forman, Janice (Robert) Bentley, Neldon (Carol) Mathews, Alma (Jacqueline) Ernst, Sarah (Ronald) Matkin, and Timothy (Venus) Ernst; children, Marny (Scott) Parkin, Thayne (Wendy) Harbaugh, Diedre (Dan) Logan, Danica (Seth) Foltz, Celene Harbaugh, Jocelyn (Tim) Tucker, Alyna (Kenneth) Shunn, Devon (Rebecca) Harbaugh, and Ranelle Harbaugh; and 20 grandchildren.
